Do you want to be like the rocks in the above picture — all balanced? I’m just kidding. This is not about rocks, trust me. I visited an aura reader this year and realised that I’ve been using too much of my brain. I wrote about that and some more over here.
Obviously, I didn’t need to experience a psychic reading to know that I was thinking 300 thoughts a minute. But it adds a bit of seriousness (and mystic). The aura reader told me I was overthinking. She said my body, mind and soul weren’t being used appropriately. I immediately started remedying this.
It’s been a while and I have been feeling better with the guidance of science, spirituality and my loved ones. Also, my brain.
This is what I’ve been doing to balance my mind, soul and body.
- Fixing your posture
Sit up straight. You must’ve heard this line plenty of times. According to research, the more you sit, the less creative and functional, over time, you become. That sure is motivating. Therefore, push your shoulders back and sit upright. Or better yet, stand tall.
- Trying new things
Most of our lives are made of habits. The easiest way to open up your mind and expand your soul is by putting yourself in new, potentially uncomfortable, situations. Not only does this bring in adventure but also tests skills and brings opportunities. You grow.
- Moving your body
Exercise. Practice yoga. Dance. Pick whichever workout you enjoy and do it consistently. Moving your body doesn’t necessarily have to be anything extraordinary. Simply ensure you do something every day for at least thirty minutes.
- Learning on your own
Sometimes we limit ourselves by thinking that we don’t have the resources to learn. That is not true, especially when the world is very much digitalised. What you got to do is: find your interest more and explore that avenue. Teach yourself — learn on your own; do it by yourself for yourself.
- Disconnect
Sitting still when everything is buzzing around you can be a tremendous task. But, do it every single day. Find the time and space to just sit still. Disconnect from the virtual and the real world for a couple of minutes and connect within.
- Mindful eating
Food plays a major role in how we feel. With more and more consciousness that goes into consumption, it can be overwhelming. Don’t let that bombard you with shoulds and shouldn’ts. You will know which diet is the one for you when you pay attention to how you truly feel when you eat. Eat more of what makes you feel light and strong.
- Following a sleep schedule
Seven to nine hours a day. Going to sleep early and waking up early. That’s the ideal schedule for a person but it might not be for you. That is okay. Work with your sleep cycle and figure out when you work best and when you rest best so that you can follow that. Make a routine out of it.
- Exploration
Now is not the best time for exploration, unfortunately. Nonetheless, sometimes we forget what it’s like to be your child and explore our existing spaces. Be a child, get back in touch with your hobbies — no matter how old or new those hobbies are or how silly or difficult they are. Get going!
- Reconnecting spiritually
Spirituality, even religion, is different for different people. We gravitate towards what fits us best. Whether it’s renewing your connection or connecting in a more meaningful way, know your motive. Spend some time aligning your beliefs with your values.
- Spending time with loved ones
Nothing comes close to spending time with a loved one. Be it your friend, family member, partner or pet — take some time off your schedule solely for someone else. Give them that time wholly.
Everything feels really rushed and it’s very easy to get caught up in this. But, do everything you can not to. Protect your vibe and your physical space in the face of these circumstances. I hope this list helped you with that.
